So help me God....

Tonight I have been to circuits. It may be the only time I EVER go to circuits depending on how much I ache tomorrow!!!

In truth I really did enjoy it- particularly watching Martin try to Skip. Priceless!!! Fortunately he was kind enough not to laugh at me for being a weakling and a wimp! ** Note to self, learn how to do a press-up**.......

Here's me doing my 'angel of the quantocks' pose! Not very impressive is it with poor Karen holding on to me!! I've tried to edit the photo to get rid of her, but I've been trying to do that for years and it's impossible!!! Only joking Mrs S!!!

Quantock Beast (ing)...

Lovely run on the hills today with the Shaunies...

quantock run 007  and Paula... .      quantock run 006

The six and a half tough miles were nothing compared to the terror of standing on top of the trig point (which was at least 8 foot high) to have my picture taken doing an 'angel of the Quantocks'  impression. Can't believe the battery on the camera died so I'll have to hope Paula's photo of me being brave comes out Ok. I say brave, but it will need some very fancy editing to crop out Karen holding on to my legs and me clinging on to poor Martin like a  limpet to a rock!!!

So it's been a good day today...nice hard run this morning and came home to find some lovely flowers and a card from husbie- bless him!

Run fat girl run...

Managed to get out with Cath this morning for a 6 mile run. The snow has all but melted although the pavements were a bit slippery in places; she made me run in front so that if we both fell over she'd have something soft to land on!!!

The road out towards Nynehead was pretty flooded but we managed to climb up the bank to avoid the worst of it.

It was just so nice to get out. Hope the weather holds, it's only 3 weeks until the Grizzly and I need all the training I can get otherwise it really might kill me.

Snow joke...

We had loads of snow overnight and everywhere looked so white and pretty this morning when Max and I went for a walk. It made me want to go running in the snow, a bit like he does in Rocky 4 when he goes to Russia!!!! ( Yes I know, but I love Rocky films!!...)

However, I decided that this was far too dangerous and that it would be best to watch the film on the telly with a coffee and packet of biscuits!!

Back by popular demand!!... (Ok, Karen)

It's been a while.....

After my success at the London Marathon, my enthusiasm for running took a bit of a nose- dive and apart from a very nice run with Claire at the Taunton 10k, I more or less took the rest of the year off!!

SPP_4426   Me and Claire at the Taunton10k. She was going for a sprint finish!!!

However, having eaten one too many mince pies over Christmas I decided it was time to put on my running shoes again and get my fat arse moving!! We've also just booked our summer holiday and the thought of being mistaken for a fat northerner on the beach was just all too much!!!

The Shaunies have been drafted in to help with my regular beastings once again!!, and I'll be running with the club (running forever RC), Claire and Cath at times too.

Not only am I enjoying my running again, but I've entered into a couple of races:

Taunton half Marathon on the 5th April

Exmoor coastal half marathon on the 9th May

In addition ( and some of you might be surprised by this- see post entitled 'never again' on 10.3.08!!!) I'm hoping I've got a place to take part in this year's Grizzly. I'll only do the cub run this time (9 miles) as I won't be fit enough to do the full 20-ish time. Bet you can't wait for more photos of me suffering!!!

Anyway, I'll try and keep you all updated on my progress...and as those of you who read this blog before will know...it's likely to be slow!!

Don't stop me now.....'cause I'm having a good time!!

Oh my good God. That was the most amazing experience ever!!

I can't believe I've run the London Marathon!! Official time 5 hours, 1 minute and 46 seconds. I knew I was having a good run and was on for about 5 hours so I pushed as hard as I could over the last 10k for a sub five hour finish, but it wasn't to be. If only I hadn't stopped for a wee......!!

It's true what they say about the supporters too- them 'Cock-en-eys' really are fantastic. There wasn't a point on the course where there wasn't supporters shouting my name- especially over the last couple of miles it was awesome!!! Got to see Floela Benjamin too, overtook her on Tower bridge!- life doesn't get any more exiting than that I can tell you. Masai warriors were great too.

See you all next year!!!! Thinking about running it in fancy dress. If only I had the thighs for a wonder woman outfit....Wonder if Mrs Shaunie is up for that?!!!!
